Riko, who has been devoted to calligraphy since she was a child, was able to study under Tadao Tokiwa, a master of the Tokiwa school, who she respects, thanks to her desperate begging. However, her guidance is only given by her son Hideo, and Tadao does not interfere in any way. Even so, Riko endures and is finally allowed to practice by Tadao. When she entered the room with anticipation and nervousness, she was suddenly ordered to take off her kimono, saying, "She takes off everything and goes straight to the book."
